September 5, 2007 attempted break-in at 4022 Ellicott Street
October 15, 2007 neighborhood petition to Mayor and City Council Members regarding health and safety (ie. Dumpsters, invasive plants, upkeep, etc.)
September 2007 sent letter to Mr. Lance Mallamo of te OHA about damage to grave stones in front of maintenance yard
March 2008 contacted Pastor Hayes, Oakland Baptist Church
April 2008 Mr. Lance Mallamo responds to a message I sent to Mr. Louis Hicks about the grave stones in front of the maintenance yard. Forwards the letter to Roger Blakeley for a response. No reply received.
April 2008 Mr. Arnold Ambers contacts me and indicates that he will serve as liaison
May 2008 contacted Mr. Roger Blakeley regarding park tree damage to cemetery. He replies on May 14, 2008 and indicates the city will remove the trees and fix the fence.
December 2008 discussions with Recreation Department Director and staff about other unmarked graves in park.
December 2008 began contacting City Council members for help with grave stones outside of maintenance yard.
March 7, 2009 interview with Sgt. Young and others reveals other likely grave areas.
March 14, 2009 City agrees to move the dumpsters
March 25, 2009 Washington Post article on “A Tale of Two Communities” by Marc Fisher.
December 2009 City moves “most” of the debris, vehicles and equipment from the maintenance yard.
